Update 12:40 a.m.
Prince William County authorities say a closed portion of Interstate 95 north at Triangle reopened to traffic at 12:30 a.m., following a series of tractor trailer crashes.

Triangle, Va. –– One lane of northbound traffic on Interstate 95 at Triangle has been reopened following the crash of two tractor trailers.

The tractor trailers crashed near Joplin Road some time after 11 p.m., and one began leaking fuel, officials said.

Officials had diverted traffic from the roadway onto U.S. 1.

A series of crashes are now being reported from the Triangle area north to Occoquan.

Authorities in Stafford and Fairfax counties say drivers on I-95 in their counties have fared better, as no major crashes have been reported there.

A mixture of ice and freezing rain has been falling across the region since 7 p.m.

The weather forecast calls for the wintry conditions to continue overnight, but the precipitation should all change to rain tomorrow.
