Stafford, Va. –– Some elementary school students in Stafford County may be forced to change schools.
Public school officials will hold a series of public meetings this month on the proposed relocation of several elementary school students from Falmouth, Stafford, Moncure, Grafton Village and Ferry Farm elementary schools.
Officials have proposed moving students to area middle schools while renovations at the elementary schools are completed over the next five years, said Stafford schools spokeswoman Valerie Cottongim.
The relocation could also bring boundary changes to Drew Middle School in Falmouth.
Under one plan, students from the schools being renovated would be relocated to Drew or Stafford middle school.
Another option has Stafford Middle School housing students in kindergarten through 8th grade, as elementary school students would move there while their schools are being renovated.
The public hearings on these plans will be held first at 7 p.m. Oct. 14, at Brooke Point High School at 1700 Courthouse Road in Stafford.
The second public hearing will be held at 7 p.m. Oct. 25, at Stafford High School at 33 Indian Lane near Falmouth.
Residents will be allowed three minutes each to comment on the plan.
More information about the plan is available on the school division’s Web site.
