North Stafford, Va. –– One man is behind bars today after an early-morning shooting at a North Stafford commuter lot.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to the lot off Staffordboro Boulevard and Va. 610 just before 1 a.m. Friday, after a man told a 911 dispatcher that the husband of the woman he was seeing shot at him.

When deputies arrived, they found the victim had fled the scene, and the alleged shooter and his wife had also left, said Stafford sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy.

Before the shooting, the victim and a female were sitting in their respective cars in the commuter lot, talking with each other.

The then woman’s husband approached the victim’s car from behind and then fired a round. The victim then drove away while the gunman aimed at the car and took a second shot, said Kennedy.

No one was injured, nor was the victim’s car damaged.

Investigators were able to determine the address of the woman and alleged gunman, went there, and arrested the male suspect.

It was also determined the suspect left his 13-month-old child alone and asleep at their home when he left for the commuter lot, said Kennedy.

Alexander Edleman, 26, of 52 Bristol Court in Stafford, is charged with second degree attempted murder, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, discharging a firearm in public and with child neglect, said Kennedy.

He was held in the Rappahannock Regional Jail with no bond.

Authorities left the child in the custody of the mother, who is the woman said to be involved in this case.

An investigation is ongoing.
