With the hot weather hanging around there are still plenty of cool things to do this weekend.

North Stafford Car Show

The North Stafford Car Show takes center parking lot Saturday, behind Brewster’s Real Ice Cream at Va. 610 and Travis Lane.

The show runs from 3 until 9 p.m. and features more than 50 classic and rare cars, along with contest giveaways raffled off every half hour and a lot of socializing among gear heads and local residents.

Admission is free.

Civil War encampment

Have you ever wondered how those who fought in the Civil War lived, drilled and camped? You can find out this weekend at the White Oak Museum in Falmouth.

Reenactors will be on hand for artillery and medical demonstrations, and they’ll also show you what soldiers did in their spare time.

The encampment will be open Saturday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The museum also displays artifacts found at nearby Civil War campsites.

Admission to the museum is $4 for adults, $2 for seniors and those ages 13 – 17, $1 ages 7-12 and free for children under 7-years-old.

Explore the seas in Annandale

Set sail with Pirate Jack, with his colorful costumes and musical instruments as he takes you on a musical tour of those who sailed the seven seas during the 1800s.

The hour-long show starts 10 a.m. Saturday at Mason District Park at 6621 Columbia Pike in Annandale.

Admission is free.
