Ball fields close as flood advisory issued

STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. – This morning’s rainfall has prompted the closure of some popular ball fields.

The softball field at Mountain View High School and the baseball field at Duff Park have both been closed for the day, according to Stafford County officials.

Employees with the county’s parks and recreation department will continue to monitor the fields, watching for improved conditions throughout the day.

The field closures come as the Stafford County has been placed under a flood advisory by the National Weather Service, as a quarter to one half inch of rain was forecast to fall on over the region before 11 a.m. Saturday.

A thunderstorm is also possible before 3 p.m.

Today’s rain will give way to party cloudy skies tonight, with a low 66. Tomorrow, the mercury creeps back up into the low 90s, the National Weather Service stated.
