Bluebird Trail at Chinn Park Needs Volunteer Monitors! Chinn Park 13065 Chinn Park Drive, Woodbridge, VA 22192 (Meet in the library parking lot)
Training Date and Time: Saturday, April 2- 1:30pm-3:30pm
How can you help? Thanks to the many people who install and tend to nesting boxes, Bluebird populations are growing. In order to keep this up, we need volunteers to help monitor the Bluebird Trail at Chinn Park throughout the spring and into the summer.
Volunteers make sure all is well, address problems as needed, and record information about activity in each of the nesting boxes found throughout the Chinn Park Bluebird Trail. Volunteers will follow a protocol to ensure birds nesting in the boxes are not disturbed. This is a great activity for families. It takes about 90 minutes to cover an entire trail… unless you notice interesting things along the way and stop to take a closer look! There’s nothing quite like seeing newborn Bluebirds grow from hatchling to fledgling.
If you are interested, please attend the training day on Saturday, April 2 from 1:30pm-3:30pm to walk the trail and learn more about bluebirds and their nests, protocols for checking the boxes, and to sign up for dates throughout the Spring!
