QUANTICO — A car fire closed a portion of Interstate 95 on Wednesday morning.
Fire crews were called to mile marker 147 north, just before the first exit for Quantize Marine Corps Base at 8:35 a.m.
The incident was initially reported as a multi-vehicle crash, but it was later learned that the incident did not involve a crash and that several motorists had stopped to assist, said Virginia Department of Transportation spokeswoman Kelly Hannon.
The crash scene was cleared the northbound lanes of the highway were reopened at 9:02 a.m.
There’s no word yet from police on any charges stemming from the crash.
