Two banks were robbed in Stafford County this morning.

The first was a Wells Fargo bank at 131 Garrisonville Road in North Stafford at 9:11 a.m. A black man wearing jeans, a gray hoodie, and sunglasses, walked into the bank and demanded money and then left on foot, said Stafford sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy. No weapon was presented during the robbery, said Kennedy.

The second robbery occurred at 9:41 a.m. at 760 Warrenton Road in south Stafford, at a BB&T bank branch. In this robbery, a black man with a mustache and goatee, wearing a blue and gray stripped shirt, black hit with an Orioles baseball cap walked into the bank and demanded cash, said Kennedy. He left on foot, and it’s not clear if any weapon was used in this robbery.

Stafford sheriff’s deputies have closed the parking lots of both banks for their investigation into the robberies, said Kennedy. Residents in the area of the banks should expect an increased police presence for the next few hours.

More as we have it.
