Dollar General Closing Manassas Store, Opening Woodbridge Location

MANASSAS, Va. — A Dollar General store in Manassas is expected to close its doors by the end of the month.

The store is located in the Davis Ford Shopping Center next to a new LA Fitness gym that recently opened at the intersection of Prince William Parkway and Wellington Liberia Avenue in Manassas.

Store closing signs are posted on the store’s exterior facade and throughout the store. Inside, much of the store’s merchandise has been marked down and many shelves are bare.

The store is no longer accepting merchandise returns or exchanges.

“This was really a business decision for us,” said company spokesman Dan MacDonald. “This lease on the store was up and we decided that it was best to close it.”

At 5,200 square feet of space, this Dollar General in Manassas  is smaller than the average location which has 7,200 feet of floor space.

All of the employees at this store will be moved to other Dollar General stores in the area.

“This is actually an area that we want to increase our business in,” said MacDonald.

There is another nearby Dollar General store at 8300 Centreville Road in Manassas, and a new location is set to open 13215 Occoquan Road in Woodbridge in early April.

An employee told us that while the doors are expected to close for good by the end of the month, the remaining merchandise may not last that long.
