WOODBRIDGE, Va. – Clean-up efforts are underway this morning after a fire engulfed an apartment inside a high-rise building in Woodbridge.

Disaster recovery crews were mopping up after fire broke out in an apartment on the 4th floor about 5 p.m. Friday afternoon. Crews were able to extinguish the fire, but heavy damage caused by water forced many to be displaced from their homes according to a fire department source.

The Prince William County Fire and Rescue Department that responded to the call has not released any information about this incident.

Flames broke out at 4480 Daisy Reid Avenue in Woodbridge, next to the Prince William County Government Center. According to a statement posted on a door of one of the three high-rise apartment buildings in the complex, no one got hurt.

“We are in the process of restoring the damaged apartment and fortunately no one was injured,” according to the statement.

The American Red Cross was called to the scene last night to assist the victims of the fire. They, again, were scheduled to be at the development’s club house at 8:30 a.m., according to the statement. At 10:30 a.m, no one was inside the clubhouse.

The statement also provided a telephone number for residents to call if they needed assistance. That number went to voice mail when dialed by Potomac Local News.

Management was unreachable and they needed to shut off the sprinklers, which ended up causing a lot of water damage. The management is awful and just DONT care. They apartment has worse than poor club house facility which is where 3+ hours later was opened for all affected to accumulate and get some help. Couple of residence from other building provided food and water. Management should be Fired!!

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. Fires are a very stressful event and require the full attention of management staff to coordinate with the Fire department and other emergency services to assure that all residents have been accounted for and no one remains in the building. Within 1 hour, we had additional staff on site that worked closely with the Red Cross to assist residents who were displaced by the fire. All displaced residents were housed by family members or by the Red Cross temporarily and then were provided alternative housing at Reid’s Prospect. If you or someone you know was displaced and are not satisfied with the arrangements that were made, please don’t hesitate to contact DAVID DOUGLAS at ddouglas@gateshudson.com

All buildings have a county violation posted for over a month and the county has required a security guard posted since then for 24 hours. something to do with the sprinkler system. Would anyone in there right mind want to live in buildings that have violations!! Use your brains, don’t fall for it. Please, do not move here unless they straighten their act. Too many things constantly keep breaking and management is hopeless. Don’t fall for their excuses and look elsewhere.
