NOKESVILLE, Va. — The body of 56-year-old Joe Emberton was found in a pond in Nokesville Thursday.

Emberton went missing on Monday night after boating on the Engh Pond off Aden Road. Emergency crews found his boat and towed it to shore Monday. Police divers and a helicopter spent the next three days searching the rural area for Emberton’s body.

It’s not clear how Emberton died. Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok said the body will has been taken to a state medical examiner for an autopsy. The results could take months, he added.

Emberton was said to be an avid boater who frequented local fishing areas. He also was an 33-year employee with the Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative.
