Heat Again Delays VRE Trains

More passenger trains bound for the Potomac Communities will experience delays today.
Virginia Railway Express told passengers this afternoon excessive heat will spark about delays on the system’s Fredericksburg line, which is owned by freight railroad CSX.
Those traveling south of the Franconia-Springfield station are more apt to notice the delay.
VRE states riders on the Manassas line will not experience heat-related delays as those trains that use that line – owned by Norfolk Southern — are not subject to the same heat restrictions as the CSX-owned line between Fredericksburg and Washington.
The temperature at Regan Washington National Airport was 95 degrees just after 1 p.m. Friday.
