STAFFORD COUNTY, Va – All girls softball games that were scheduled at Stafford County parks on Saturday are canceled due to the excessive heat advisory issued by the National Weather Service.

Temperatures are expected to soar above 100 degrees on Saturday, and the combination of heat and humidity will make it feel like 110 degrees, according to the weather service.

Stafford County officials have asked residents to stay indoors and to keep cool in a climate controlled area.

Officials in Prince William County say their air-conditioned libraries will be open to the public Saturday, as well as government buildings.

A cooling shelter for the homeless, near the headquarters of the Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission in Woodbridge, will be open Saturday form 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. There visitors can take a shower and get a meal.

Residents are also recommended to go to an indoor shopping mall.
