Town of Occoquan: “Just in time for the Labor Day weekend, the opening of Occoquan’s new beer garden — the Mill St. Draft Garden — will take place this Wednesday, August 30, at 3:00 p.m.”

“Located at 200 Mill Street in historic Occoquan, the Mill St. Draft Garden is designed to be an outdoor oasis serving beer garden cuisine. It will offer over 16 draft lines featuring local brews, sparkling wine, and craft cocktails. Come check out this new addition to Occoquan’s varied dining scene.”

Gainesville has a new place to grab a cup of Joe.

GodShot Coffee, in the Shoppes at Glenkirk on 13930 Estate Manor Drive, opened this past May, in the space that was formerly Phonean.

The coffee served at GodShot is unlike what one would find at other popular establishments. “We have a very good selection of high-quality specialty beans; these are not beans you can buy from the store”, said the manager, P.K, who preferred not to use his last name.

Officials gathered on Wednesday, July 19, to break ground for a new Chick-fil-A outside Dumfries.

The new restaurant at 3330 Pine Bluff Drive, just off Route 1, will be the largest of its kind in the Mid-Atlantic region. Crews will raze a building that used to house an Applebee's restaurant.

The new Chick-fil-A will have three drive-through lanes. The first two lanes would accommodate 48 cars, while a third lane would fit 18 more and be opened during peak business hours, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Kona Ice, a shaved ice company, is expanding into Bristow, Nokesville, and Quantico and will feature entertainment, frozen treats, and new fundraising opportunities in the area.

Kona’s truck, which began serving the community in March, offers a self-service dispensing system allowing for full customization. Guests have the option to choose from the 20-plus flavors and four different sizing options; child size (nine ounces), classic (12 ounces), large (16 ounces), and what the company calls a Kowabunga size (22 ounces).
