A car smashed into an electronic message sign near the intersection of Route 234 and Hastings Drive in Manassas early Monday.
The demolished sign is owned by the city and had an electronic message board that was used to display information about city events and messages from city hall. There would be word yet from Manassas police if anyone was charged in the crash that demolished the sign.
The sign will be replaced soon, said Manassas spokeswoman Patty Prince. Similar signs sit on Route 28 near Godwin Drive, on Liberia Avenue near Prince William Parkway, and on Sudley Road near Novant Prince William Medical Center.
