1 Taken to Hospital after Crash

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Volunteer fire and rescue crews from Dale City late Tuesday were called to a crash near Interstate 95.

A Toyota Corolla slammed into a utility pole about 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of Optiz Boulevard and Telegraph Road outside Potomac Mills mall in Woodbridge. Two females who were inside the car were able to walk away from the crash.

Officials on the scene said the woman appeared to have lost control of the Toyota and then hit the pole.

A second vehicle, a Honda CRV, pulled up to the crash scene and offered  to let the victims sit in his car until help arrived, officials said. Both women accepted, but after rescue crews arrived the female passenger showed signs of injury, was placed in a neck brace,  extricated from the CRV and placed into an ambulance. She was taken to a local hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, officials said.

One lane of Opitz Boulevard east was closed due to the crash and reopened after emergency crews cleared the scene. Prince William police officers investigated the crash.
