Dominion Reports New Power Outages

DALE CITY, Va. — What was power restored is now, once again, a power outage.

Dominion Virginia Power reports power outages in some areas that had been restored following Friday night’s powerful wind storm, but lights went dark again after tonight’s storms.

The utility asks residents once again without power to call 1-866-366-4357 to report any outages. Dominion officials on their Twitter page continue to tell customers they plan to have power restored to areas impacted by Friday’s storms by Friday.

Storms quickly rolled through the area about 9 p.m. Tuesday, moving west to southeast. They packed some lightning when they passed over the Potomac Communities, and also brought some rain to the area.

As of 10 p.m., Dominion reports 385 customers out in Prince William County, 2,058 in Stafford County.

The Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative reports 111 outages in Prince William, and 30 in Stafford.

STORM CLEAN UP CONTINUES IN STAFFORD COUNTY

It was another hot day in Stafford today as crews worked to restore power to many who have been without it for four days.

County officials warned of downed power lines that remain on the ground, and said those who come across downed lines should assume they are energized, to avoid electrocution and not touch them or make contact with them using metal, and to call power companies or 911 right away.

Residents who have been without water can go to fire stations to fill water bottles for drinking for flushing toilets, said Stafford spokeswoman Shannon Howell.

For the first time in several days, the Rowser Government Building on U.S. 1 reopened after power was restored there. It joins the George L. Gordon Stafford Government Center and health department office which also reopened following power restoration.
