Marion D. Harris, 78, passed away on December 18, 2020 at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital. Born Marion Moize Drummond on February 28, 1942, daughter of Samuel M. Drummond and Vivian M. Drummond, both deceased. She later took the nickname of ‘Terri’, because she felt anybody with her name should not be a tomboy like she was!
She is survived by her beloved husband, Frank W. Harris, III; her children Charles S. Peters, Jr. (Linda), Samuel L. Peters and Sallie E. Day (John); her step-children Frank W. Harris, IV (Elaine), Christian B. Harris (Cathy), Abigail M. Harris (Edward Shea); her grandchildren and step-grandchildren Jennifer E. Day, Joshua Peters, Chanel Peters, Samuel Peters, Paul Peters, Kayla Jackson, Abigail Harris-Shea, Katie Harris Solms (John), Christina Schubert (Steve), Frank W. Harris, V (Bonnie), and Wyatt Harris (Hilary); and a host of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Jennifer Peters.
Terri graduated from the University of South Florida in Tampa with a BS in Management and Human Resource Management. She later attended Goucher College in Towson, MD and received Credit Count Certification in Special Education. Terri worked at Honeywell, Inc. in Clearwater, FL and at Allied Signal Corp. in Towson, MD before becoming a special education teacher. Terri taught in Georgia and Virginia and retired in 2009 after teaching many years at North Stafford High School.
Terri was a longtime member of many clubs, groups, and organizations including the Calvin A. Lloyd #81, Quantico, VA Order of the Eastern Star, Past Matron and Member of Fredericksburg #29, order of the Eastern Star, Al Manarrah Court #50, Ladies Oriental Shrine, St. Petersburg Coterie, Phi Theta Kappa, Heavenly Sunshine Gospel Trio, Woodbine Woods Garden Club, Wives of Retired Officers (WORO), Quantico Wives Garden Club, and the Secretary/Treasurer of Quantico Chapter #44, National Sojourners Inc.
Terri loved her God, Husband, Children, and Grandchildren. She loved singing and travelling. Terri wrote that she had been so happy in her later years that she considered every new day as another gift from God.
The arrangements are under the direction of Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home.
