Maureen Caddigan Way opens in Triangle

There’s a new road name for longtime Supervisor Maureen Caddigan.

The Potomac District Supervisor’s name was placed on a street linking Route 1 with Inn Street in Triangle, near the National Museum of the Marine Corps entrance.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held for county employees and officials. Potomac Local was not notified of the planned ribbon-cutting and did not attend.

Caddigan had held the Potomac District seat (formerly named the Dumfries District) since 1992 and oversaw the widening of Route 1 in Triangle where the new street is located.

She served on the county’s school board prior to her time as an elected supervisor.

Caddigan will retire on Dec. 31, 2019. Andrea Bailey has been elected to succeed her.
