Workman to run for Prince William County School Board

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY – (Press Release) Brandi Workman, a local mom of three, has filed to run for a school board position in 2019 to represent the Potomac District.

“Prince William County is a special place to live, which is why so many families want to locate here,” said Workman. “To continue to make sure every family has access to a quality public school, we must continue to improve educational opportunities. One of our biggest challenges in Prince William County is over-crowding within our schools. Each school is unique; however, students are more likely to fall through the cracks when our classrooms are overcrowded.

“We also must improve our special education programs. The IEP and 504 processes shouldn’t be so convoluted that a parent needs to hire a specialist just to help navigate them. We need to equip our schools with the specialists and staff they need to address the concerns of our children.”

In addition to addressing special education issues and classroom overcrowding, her goals include strengthening school safety, improving communication between schools and parents. In the coming months, Brandi will focus on listening to families and teachers across the Potomac District. Afterwards, she will release specific policy goals she will pursue if elected to the School Board.

Brandi and her husband Steve, have three children, two of whom are students in Prince William Schools. She was born and raised in Oklahoma and is now proud to call Prince William County her home.

In 2015 Brandi represented Coles Elementary School on the re-zoning committee for what is now Wilson Elementary School. She has served as a volunteer at Henderson Elementary and as a Girl Scout leader for her daughter’s troop. Her family lives in Montclair and they are members of Sacred Heart Parish in Manassas.
