Original | Area leaders give a preview of ‘Future of the Region’ event

Those charged with economic development in Prince William County and the cities of Manassas and Manassas Park plan to share their vision for the region on January 23 in Woodbridge.

The Prince William Chamber of Commerce will hold it’s annual “Future of the Region” event where representatives will speak about what new businesses are coming to the region, and the types of enterprises they’re pursuing.

We asked officials in the region to give us a preview of what they’ll be discussing.

Prince William Economic Development Director Christina Win says she’ll be talking about the effort to build a new Kaiser Permanente South complex, a $200 million, 250,000 square feet center that will provide a range of healthcare services to its patients including adult and pediatric care, women’s health services, and outpatient surgery.

She’ll also discuss the county’s nearly half-million-dollar investment into Brickyard, a new co-working space that was set to open last fall, and how has an opening timeframe of February. “…there isn’t a firm date yet. They are almost complete with build-out,” said Winn.

In recent years, Manassas has been the economic development darling of the region after it lured a $3 billion expansion of the existing Micron plant in the city. The deal, larger the $2.5 billion Amazon deal in Crystal City, will mean the company will ramp-up production of chips that will be used in driverless automobiles.

Email from Manassas Economic Development | Among other topics, [city economic development director Patrick] Small will be discussing:

· Developments in the Godwin Technology Corridor

· Workforce Development

· Historic Downtown

Here’s more information about the upcoming event from the Prince William Chamber | Our Annual Future of the Region is an opportunity to hear from the Economic Development Directors from all three jurisdictions in the Region. This a the only place where you can hear from all three Directors at the same time.

This is an opprotunity to be “in the know” about the Economic Development Projects that have occurred within the Region and some that are coming down the pipeline. Including details on their impact on our local economy.

Join us for an afternoon of learning, networking, heavy appetizers and fun at Old Hickory Golf Club [in Woodbridge] on Thursday, January 23 from 4-6 p.m.
