The Fauquier Bank collecting school supplies Aug. 1 through 12

WARRENTON — (Press Release) Fauquier Bankshares, Inc. and its principal subsidiary, The Fauquier Bank are pleased to be celebrating educators in August.

“Empowering teachers with the tools they need to positively influence children is a wonderful way for us to continue our commitment to giving back to our community,” says Abbie Ford, VP, Director of Retail Banking. In honor of our teachers, children, and community, the Bank’s next Charity Friday is August 9 and will be called Teachers Day. Over 90% of teachers use their own money to purchase school supplies for their classrooms. We hope that our communities come together to help our teachers. From August 1-12 we ask that teachers drop off their wishlist and for our communities to help fulfill the wish lists by donating supplies at any of our TFB locations. Teachers will be contacted for pick up.

The bank has locations in Bristow, Gainesville, Haymarket, and Manassas.

As a community bank since 1902, we also want our community to be aware of our financial literacy classes and bank tours. In addition, there are annual scholarship opportunities offered by the Virginia Bankers Association (VBA). While the Bank hosts an extensive list of seminars throughout the year, we also travel to different schools and businesses to conduct seminars ranging from “Teach Children to Save” to the “Basics of a Health Savings Account (HSA).”

According to Cody Florence, Regional Manager, “Seeing students successfully manage their finances is truly rewarding.” Mrs. Ford adds, “A lot of people are unaware of the fact that we offer financial literacy classes to all ages. Children enjoy learning about financial management and we are here to help through that journey.” Educators, leaders, business owners, church members, and doctor’s offices schedule a seminar by calling 540-349-0202.

DMV residents who turn in their gas-powered lawn tools will receive a FREE Ego Power+ replacement including batteries and chargers, while supplies last.

Compared to gas, electric lawn equipment can reduce emissions, noise pollution, health risks and maintenance costs and time. The program aims to remove about a hundred gas-powered polluting tools from yards in the greater Baltimore-Washington region.
