Outside fire melts siding on two North Stafford townhomes

STAFFORD — The emergency response to an outside fire added to a snarled traffic situation in North Stafford.

Crews were called to 303 Mews Court, off Onville Road about 3:30 p.m. Friday. Neighbors lined the sidewalks outside their townhouse while firefighters used hoses to douse the flames of a fire outside the house.

The fire burned so hot that the siding on two townhouse was damaged due to heat, said Stafford Fire and Rescue Department spokesman Roger Sutherland.

Fire crews arrived about five minutes after the 911 call went out, and they worked quickly to ensure the blaze did extend to the townhouses, added Sutherland.

No one was injured. The cause of the fire was ruled accidental.

It was an accident that caused $5,500 worth of damage, said Sutherland.

The blaze comes one day after Stafford fire crews were called to fire at a single family home in western Stafford County.  There, firefighters found heavy smoke and fire conditions at the house at 11 Stafford Manor Way.

That blaze caused $115,000 in damage and remains under investigation.
