On the Move: Prince William Chamber’s Brendon Shaw heads to Dominion

MANASSAS — Brendon Shaw will head to Dominion Energy to work on community-related issues in Fairfax County.

He will start in the company’s Northern Virginia offices on Monday, April 2.

Shaw will leave behind his colleagues at the Prince William Chamber where he worked for the last four years as the Director of Government Relations.

Shaw spent multiple winters in Richmond lobbying elected officials on behalf of the chamber-member businesses, as well as in the halls of local government in Prince William County.

“If you’re in the office too often it can difficult to do your job,” said Shaw, of his job at the chamber. “You need to talk to as many people as you can, get to know each jurisdictions planning staff, and be a self-starter for this job.”

He plans to apply those same skills as he transitions into the corporate world at Dominion. He says he’s already received his first email to his new Dominion account inviting him to a diversity and inclusion training.

While at the Chamber, Shaw also tackled local government issues like lowering of BPOL (business and professional licensing taxes) in Prince William County, as well as advocated for more funding for mobility improvements to roads and transit service.

Before working for a non-profit, Shaw was a legislative aide to Delegate Jackson Miller in Manassas. He also knocked doors on political campaigns.

He thanked the Prince William Chamber for allowing him to represent the organization.

“The chamber gave me an opportunity at a really young age to step out an represent an origination to build a relationship, focus on issues, that allowed me to go ‘a mile wide and an inch deep’ on a lot of topics,” said Shaw.

Interviews are underway for his replacement at the Chamber, he said. The job should be filled in April.

Shaw hails from Haymarket in Prince William County.
