Harry Irvin Mahon III

Harry Irvin “Sonny” Mahon III, 75, of Colonial Beach, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Mary Washington Hospital.

He was born Friday, May 8, 1942 in Fairfax, Virginia to the late Harry Irvin Mahon, Jr. and Margaret Hall Mahon of Lorton, Virginia. Sonny served his country in the United States Navy, retired as a Captain for the Fairfax County Fire Service and was then an electrician at Fort Belvoir.

He was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W., Eagles, Moose and Masonic Lodges and the Colonial Hunt Club. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who loved spending time with his family and friends and helping others along the way.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carolyn Lee Mahon, 3 children, Michael Roy Mahon, Margaret Teresa Davis and her husband Michael, Melissa Anne McIntosh, a sister, Rebecca Chaklader and her husband Subir, 6 grandchildren Jessica Mahon, Christopher Davis, Sarah Davis, James McIntosh, Jr., Henry Long and Alicen McIntosh, 4 great grandchildren, Logan Neer, Christopher Davis, Jr., Paetynn Vaughan, Trevor Davis and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Storke Funeral Home Colonial Beach Chapel, 131 3rd St, Colonial Beach, VA 22443.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: Wounded Warrior Project PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675 and/or Oak Grove Fire Dept. 121 James Monroe Hwy, Colonial Beach, VA 22443. Condolences may be left for the family at www.storkefuneralhome.com.
