Infant Found in Pool Dies at Hospital

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — An infant died at a Woodbridge hospital after she was found inside a swimming pool.

The child, 20-month-old Nicole Moran, of Woodbridge, was found in a swimming pool at her home at 2:38 p.m. Tuesday.

Here’s more from Prince William police:

**FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE** – On August 26th at 2:38PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 15400 block of Ohio Ave in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a drowning. Family members reported to police that the victim, a 20 month old infant girl, was found unresponsive in the home’s pool. The infant was pulled from the water and CPR was initiated.

The victim was transported to an area hospital where she died. The investigation revealed that the child’s family lost track of the child and believed the child was inside the home. Upon checking the home and the outside area, the child was discovered in the pool. Following a preliminary investigation, this incident appears to be an accident. The investigation continues.

Identified:

The infant was identified as Nichole MORAN, 20 mos., of Woodbridge

The child was taken to Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center. For a brief time it appeared as the child was going to pull through as an initial request for a fire department

Chaplin to come to the scene was called off.

About one in every five drowning victims in the U.S. are 14 years old or younger, according to the CDC.
