1 Burned in 2-Alarm Blaze Near Dumfries

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — One person was burned during a kitchen fire this afternoon near Dumfries.

A helicopter was called to carry the patient to a local hospital for treatment.

The fire broke out a home in the 17100 block of Larkin Drive near Dumfries about 1:30 p.m., behind a Walmart on U.S. 1. Smoke was seen billowing from the roof of the home as fire crews rolled up, according to initial reports.

Fire crews reported the blaze had been extinguished by 1:45 p.m. A second alarm was sounded during the incident due to the victim’s burns, according to initial reports.

A helicopter landing zone was set up at the nearby Walmart store parking lot.
