MANASSAS, Va. — Two small children were assaulted while at a daycare in the Manassas area last month.
A five-year-old girl and 6-year-old girl were both abused while in the care of an employee of the daycare, identified by police as S.M.I.L.E. Day Care at 7171 New Market Court in Manassas, just off Balls Ford Road and Interstate 66. Police began their investigation into the allegations of abuse Feb. 26.
Police said the children were both in the care of the daycare provider when they were assaulted. A joint investigation with Child Protective Services and Prince William police led to charges in this case.
Arousha Shahin, 39, of Jacobs Creek Place in Haymarket, is charged with two counts of contributing to the Dequincy of a minor and with two counts of assault and battery. She was held on a $10,000 bond.
Shahin is listed at the head of admissions at the Minds in Motion Academy at 7171 New Market Court also in Manassas. The school says it follows the Virginia Standards of Learning curriculum when teaching its students who learn in small classes of children in Kindergarten through 4th grade. Tuition for the school ranges from $31,900 to $34,900.
