Thomas James Dempster

Thomas James Dempster, 64, of Woodbridge, VA passed away after a long battle with cancer on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 with his wife by his side. He served in the United States Marine Corps for 9 years and then worked as a government contractor in the IT field for over 40 years.

He was born in Long Branch, NJ and resided in Woodbridge, VA for the last 30 years. He lived life to the fullest and will be greatly missed by those who knew him. He loved cars, driving fast, new technology, target practice and reading Tom Clancy novels. He enjoyed traveling, spending time with his family and driving his Jeep on the beach.

He left behind many who loved him including his wife Janice (Janovich) of 44 years, his daughters, Kimberly Minnery and husband Michael of Stafford, Heather Ware and husband Bryan of Montclair, and Amanda Price and husband Curtis of Lorton; four granddaughters Brittany, Haley, Hannah and Kayla and one grandson, Brenden. He is also survived by his siblings, sisters Sharon Nielsen of Oregon, Sara Olivarez of Texas and brother Stephen Dempster of New Jersey.

The family will receive friends at the MountcastleTurch Funeral Home, 4143 Dale Boulevard, Dale City, VA on Monday, March 3, 2014 between 2 PM and 4 PM and from 7 PM until 9 PM. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 in the Mountcastle Chapel at 9 AM. Interment with full military honors at Quantico National Cemetery will follow at 10 AM.
