Neighborhoods want parking restrictions

North Stafford's Hampton Oaks subdivision sits off Mine Road and Northampton Boulevard.

North Stafford, Va. –– The Hampton Oaks subdivision wants to be the next to ban owners from parking commercial and pleasure vehicles on its streets.

The Stafford County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday is expected to set the date of a public hearing that would allow residents to comment on the proposal put forth by the neighborhood’s home owners’ association banning trucks, boats, trailers, motor homes, vehicles with missing parts and license plates from parking on any street in the neighborhood both public and private.

The application was submitted Dec. 2 and has already been reviewed by the county administrator, county attorney and the sheriff’s department.

If approved, the HOA would be responsible for towing unwanted vehicles from their streets and the sheriff’s department would uphold the decision.

The homeowners’ board under an ordinance passed last year is allowed to make a recommendation to restrict parking, which ultimately must be approved by the Board.

The neighborhood sits off Mine Road in North Stafford, near Garrisonville Road (Va. 610).

The nearby Berkshire Homeowners’ Association has also submitted to the Board a request to restrict parking on their streets.

Residents in that neighborhood, which sits off Winding Creek Drive and Wapole Street, want to restrict parking on Abraham Court, Blessed Court, Easter Drive, Eternity Court, Mt. Ararat Lane, Noahs Court and Power Way.

The county’s staff has recommended the Board approved the request, according to county documents.
