Stafford woman drowns

STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. – A woman who was found face down in her pool Thursday has died.

The 61-year-old victim, Mi Kang, died at 1:30 a.m. Friday at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg.

Her death appears to be an accident, said Stafford Sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy.

“Anytime there is an accidental death we do an investigation, but all points are showing that the victim died as a result of an accidental death,” said Kennedy.

Kang’s husband found her in a pool at the couple’s home about 8 p.m. Thursday. He had just returned to their home on Cardinal Drive after helping a move fire wood.

He called 911 and rescue crews which took his wife to the hospital.

It appears no one was home when the victim fell into the pool, said Kennedy.

The victim’s body has been sent to the medical examiner’s office in Richmond for evaluation.

Cardinal Drive is home to a series of large homes, off Truslow Road in the southern portion of Stafford County.
