‘Dark Knight’ ticket stubs to benefit victim charity

In the wake of the Aurora, Colo. theater tragedy that claimed the lives of many and injured countless others during a movie screening of the much-anticipated Batman finale, “Dark Knight Rises,” the Potomac Nationals are asking the public to rise to the occasion by showing support to the victims of this catastrophe.

During the P-Nats next homestand at Pfitzner Stadium against the Salem Red Sox (Boston Red Sox) which runs from Tuesday, July 31st until Thursday, August 2nd, fans are encouraged to display their movie stubs from the “Dark Knight” film at the Nationals Ticket Office.

In return, the P-Nats will offer a $3 discount off all seating for any or all of the three contests in the series, and the Nationals will make a $1 donation per ticket purchased to benefit the victims of this disaster. Donations will be made to the Colorado Organization for Victim Assistance (COVA).

In addition, donation boxes will be available at the US Coast Guard Fan Assistance booth on the concourse at The Pfitz.

Ice center mascot temporarily replaces Uncle Slam

The Potomac Nationals are excited to announce that Patty the Patriot from the Prince William Ice Center has won a fan vote to replace Uncle Slam as the P-Nats mascot for the remainder of the 2012 season. Patty beat out ten other mascots in the competition.

“The Prince William Ice Center and Potomac Patriots are honored to have Patty the Patriot be selected as a substitute for Uncle Slam,” says Prince William Ice Center Hockey Director RJ Zeigler. “Patty will represent us well and looks forward to making the Potomac Nationals game experience all it can be for the fans for the duration of the 2012 season!”.

Patty comes from the Potomac Ice Center which is located in Dale City just down the road from the Pfitz at 5180 Dale Boulevard. A new facility opened in 2011, the Prince William Ice Center is Northern Virginia’s premier facility for figure skating and ice hockey.

Uncle Slam’s outfit was damaged in a June 29 fire at the baseball club’s offices.
