Police said a report of a woman walking in Woodbridge and then sexually assaulted was a lie.

Regarding the below incident which was released earlier this morning, detectives from the Special Victims Unit have determined that the information provided by the victim was false and that the incident did not occur.

A 19-year-old woman told police she was sexually assaulted in Woodbridge Sunday night.

The Prince William County Police Department is asking for the public’s help in providing information about a sexual assault which was reported to have occurred on Smoketown Rd located in the Woodbridge area of Prince William County.

On March 6 at 8:11PM, officers responded to the area of Bixby Rd and Gideon Dr in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a sexual assault. The victim, a 19 year old woman of Woodbridge, reported to police that she was walking from her place of employment on Smoketown Rd when she was approached from behind by an unknown man. During the encounter, the man grabbed the victim and inappropriately touched her. The victim was able to fight off the suspect who then fled on foot. Minor injuries were reported. Police searched the area for the suspect who was not located.

                Suspect Description:

Hispanic male, between 30 & 40 years of age, 5’7” with a medium build, brown hair, brown eyes,  and a thin mustache

                Last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a small front zipper and dark pants=
