The victim, a 55 year old man of Dumfries, reported to police that he was dispatched by his taxi company to an address located in the 4100 block of Nichols Ct in Dumfries where he picked up an unknown man. During the encounter, the victim pulled into the Valero service station and requested the man to get out. At some point, the accused began to punch the victim and knocked his cell phone out of his hand as he attempted to contact police.

The accused then forced the victim out of the vehicle and drove off in the taxi. Responding officers observed the vehicle in the area of Jefferson Davis Hwy and Dale Blvd. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the accused continue to flee northbound on Jefferson Davis Hwy. As the vehicle approached the intersection with Prince William Pkwy, the vehicle struck a 2010 Hyundai Sonata from behind which was stationary at a red signal. The accused exited the vehicle and attempted to flee the area on foot but was detained without incident a short time later by a police K-9. The accused was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the Hyundai Sonata, a 62 year old woman of Woodbridge, was not injured.
