Here’s more in a press release:

Felony Animal Cruelty | Reckless Handling of a Firearm – On November 8th, Animal Control Officers began an investigation after a German Shepherd was found deceased in a wooded area located in the 10700 block Lonesome Rd in Nokesville (20181). The owner of the dog initially reported this dog, and another German Shepherd, missing to Animal Shelter staff on November 6th. On November 8th, during a search of the property, the owner located the dog, identified as 5 month old “Zoey”, deceased with an apparent gunshot wound. After locating the deceased dog, the owner contacted police.
