Five companies to bring 370 new jobs to Stafford

Five companies are expanding in Stafford, bringing in 112,000 feet of additional office leases and 370 new jobs to the county.

Among the companies that have helped drive economic growth in Stafford are Dispersive Technologies, MLT Systems, the Bowen Group, IPKeys Technologies, LLC, and SimVentions, according to a county release.

“The Board has been very strategic in its economic development efforts, and these recent expansions indicate that our work is making a difference. We have worked hard to make our community more business friendly, streamlining our processes and working closely with prospects to ensure that we can provide what they need to be successful here, as well as offering to our citizens high quality jobs right here in Stafford,” said Gary Snellings, Chairman of the Stafford County Board of Supervisors, in a release.

Here is a list of the companies that will be expanding in Stafford over the next few months:

Dispersive Technologies

A new Dispersive Technologies’ office is opening, beginning with five employees, but poised to grow quickly. Dispersive Technologies will be located in 1,000 square feet of flexible office space with room to add more square footage in the near future. The company chose Stafford as “an ideal location between the Federal and Commonwealth seat of government for the Military and Government Sales Team to continue to engage a wide range of federal, state, local government and military organizations throughout the region and the Washington, DC Beltway,” said Robert W. Twitchell, Jr., President and CEO of Dispersive Technologies.

The Dispersive Technologies team will focus on cyber security for clients. Dispersive Technologies is transforming the Internet and the way organizations use it with innovative software and cloud-based solutions that improve speed, security and reliability. The company’s current solutions (Dispersive Virtualized Networks) protect data-in-motion by dividing data into smaller, non-duplicated independent streams that roll dynamically to bypass congestion and defeat man-in-the-middle attacks.

MLT Systems

Founded in 2008, MLT Systems, a Service Disabled Veteran Owned small business, has grown precipitously each year. “We were founded in the basement of my Hampton Oaks home. Through my business relationships with other companies in and around Stafford County and my friendships with other professional men and women, we just keep growing,” explained Mark Tornai, President and Chief Executive Officer of MLT Systems.

“Our model has involved a core group of people who are more like family than business associates. During our growth spurt – that started in 2013 – we won 4 new contracts – teammates, both large and small businesses have allowed us to billet our people in their spaces until I could stabilize and expand. Our growth has allowed us to move forward and establish MLT Systems as a competitor in the defense marketplace. In August of 2014 we were awarded a large contract that expanded our operation and grew our need for people and added space. To that end, we have leased an additional 10,450 square feet in an adjacent building at 16 Center Street including three large conference rooms (one capable of seating about 75 people).  This new leased space will accommodate additional growth increasing our total leased space to 14,000 square feet.  We now have more than 50 employees. We just secured another five-year contract last week that will support the General Services Administration. 2015 is starting out well for MLT Systems.”

The Bowen Group

The Bowen Group recently closed on a deal that extended and expanded its lease in Stafford, adding 30 new positions locally. The company will grow to 14,000 square feet by adding 5,000 new leased square feet. The Bowen Group is a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business and is expanding its office at 10 Center Street.

Davis Defense

Davis Defense Group has expanded their workforce and is moving their corporate headquarters to Aquia Town Center. The company has recently entered into a lease of 17,588 square feet and move into their new facility early in the 2nd quarter of 2015. Erik Davis, Vice President of Davis Defense, stated that while the company had its origin in emergency response training, its core mission is now to support the United States Marine Corps. “We started as a Delaware corporation in 2002 and moved to Virginia – it’s a much better match for our corporate growth,” Mr. Davis said.

IPKeys Technologies, LLC

IPKeys has recently signed a lease for 20,000 square feet at Stafford Commerce Center. This office expansion will occupy the entire second floor of 10 Center Street. Mark Pappas, President of IPKeys, stated, “IPKeys has enjoyed consistent growth, and as a result, has expanded our facilities and presence in the Stafford County community. We have found significant talent and extremely qualified employees to fulfill our mission for our customer base.” This Small Business Administration Certified 8(a) Economically Disadvantaged and Woman-Owned company is a strategic partner in the Department of Defense, federal, commercial and energy sectors specializing in Internet Protocol (“IP”) technology and communications systems. The company’s Virginia operation is currently located at 245 Garrisonville Road.

In addition to a wide range of engineering and technical support efforts, IPKeys is a prime contract holder for the Global Information Grid (GIG) Services Management-Engineering, Transition and Implementation (GSM-ETI) program. The program contract is a multi-million dollar contract with a five-year period of performance, leading to many job opportunities in Stafford now and for years to come.

SimVentions

SimVentions will move its headquarters operation by the end of 2015 to Riverside Business Park in southern Stafford. The relocation to Stafford will bring their entire 160-member workforce to this property in 60,000 square feet, with the promise of 50 additional employees in the next 24 months. SimVentions is a defense contractor providing solutions and services in three main areas – engineering (which includes systems engineering, software engineering, cyber/security engineering, and modeling and simulation), acquisition and program management and training. Their passion is for ensuring their employees’ gifts and talents are put to use in delivering meaningful capability to our nation’s research and development labs and the U.S. military’s men and women on the front lines.
