Prince William police looking for man after attempt to pick up child from day care in Woodbridge

On April 3 Prince William police responded to a call from Small World Day Care in Woodbridge, to investigate a suspicious person.

According to a Prince William police release, a staff member at the day care stated that a young man entered the location and was trying to pick up a child.

The man had stated he was associate with the child’s family, said a Prince William police release.

Initially during the encounter with day care staff and the individual, there was confusion and the man was not allowed to pick up the child because he didn’t have identification.

A Prince William police release stated that the man returned to the day care shortly after and showed staff an ID. Staff used his ID to look through the approved pick up list, and when he was found not to be on the list, he was turned away.

There was no other contact made with the individual, a Prince William police release stated.

The man was seen leaving the scene in a dark colored Mini Cooper.

Staff at the day care has been unable to provide the name given by the individual, and the children’s parents were notified. According to a Prince William police release, the parents stated that they did not know this individual.

Prince William police is currently looking for this individual, and believe that the incident was a misunderstanding.

The individual is being described as a black male between 20 to 25 years old, 5’7” and 135 pounds. He was last seen wearing a Chicago Bulls hat, a black sweatshirt and dark pants.
