In April, the Prince William Committee of 100 will gaze into the future when it hosts its monthly dinner and program. The program “What will Prince William County Look Like in the Future?” will take place on Thursday, April 16 at the Montclair County Club, 16500 Edgewood Drive, Montclair, VA, 22025. Networking begins at 6:30 p.m.; dinner 7 p.m. and the program will begin at 7:45 p.m.
The rapid growth in Prince William County over the past decade has presented enormous challenges, such as: overcrowded classrooms, inefficient commuter traffic patterns, shortages of public amenities, and over-stressed public safety resources. Jobs and housing are two drivers of the future economy in Prince William County. Current economic conditions may threaten growth in quality jobs, housing values and business opportunities. In large measure, the future of Prince William County’s quality of life will be determined by how it adapts its policies and sets priorities.
The program will be moderated by Mr. Brendon Shaw, Director of Government Relations Prince William Chamber of Commerce. Shaw is a long time Prince William County resident from Haymarket. For the better part of a decade he worked on numerous political campaigns on the federal, state and local levels along the east coast. Most recently he worked in the office of Majority Whip, Delegate Jackson Miller, as his legislative aide.
Currently, Shaw is the Director of Government Relations at the Prince William Chamber of Commerce. He is a graduate of George Mason University with a degree in Government and International Politics. Â
Shaw will guide the discussion and the question and answer period among four panelists.
The panelists include Robert Buchanan, Principle, Buchanan Partners, LLC and President, 2030 Group; Terry L. Clower, Ph. D., Northern Virginia Chair and Professor of Public Policy at George Mason University; G. Mark Gibb, Executive Director Northern Virginia Regional Commission and Ralph Stephenson, Chairman and Co-Founder Citizens for Balanced Growth. Each will provide their glimpse of the future for Prince William County.

DMV residents who turn in their gas-powered lawn tools will receive a FREE Ego Power+ replacement including batteries and chargers, while supplies last.
Compared to gas, electric lawn equipment can reduce emissions, noise pollution, health risks and maintenance costs and time. The program aims to remove about a hundred gas-powered polluting tools from yards in the greater Baltimore-Washington region.
The exchanges will take place the weekends of May 17-19, 2024, and May 31-June 2, 2024, at A Few Cool Hardware Stores network of employee-owned Ace Hardware stores in the DC and Baltimore metro areas.
