Harvey Jerome Hindin

On Saturday, November 22, 2014, at 10 p.m., Harvey Jerome Hindin, 85, passed peacefully into the waiting arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ.

Harvey was born on July 20, 1929 in Braddock, Penn. to Benjamin and Sarah (Charapp) Hindin. He grew up in Rankin, Penn., where his parents owned a small grocery store at 1 Miller Ave.

Harvey and Anna Mae (Ann) Schnaubelt were married on May 2, 1953 in Alexandria, Va. He attended the Rochester Institute of Technology where he studied photography.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1954. Over the years he held a number of photography and printing jobs in the Pittsburgh and Washington, D.C. areas. Harvey and Ann retired to Virginia Beach before returning to the Pittsburgh area in 2012 to live at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot.

He enjoyed woodworking and photography, and he was always eager to help others.

Harvey is survived by his loving wife, Ann, his devoted children Mark of Arlington, Virginia, Amy (John) Correll of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Tracey (Stephen) Johnson of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and by his grandchildren Tim Correll and Sam and Adam Johnson. He is predeceased by his parents and by his brother, Melvin.

“Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.” Psalm 116:15. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 28 at 11:00 a.m. in the Lund Care Center Chapel, 134 Marwood Rd., Cabot, Penn.
