Prince William GOP To Collect Thanksgiving Food For Haymarket Food Pantry

The Prince William County GOP will be doing their last community service project of 2014 – collecting food at the Haymarket Food Bank, to help with food needs for the Thanksgiving holiday.

More information from a PWC GOP press release:

The Bull Run Republican Women’s Club is leading a community service project this month to benefit the Haymarket Regional Food Pantry. The Club is continuing the Prince William County Republican Committee’s focus on community service by collecting donated nonperishable food items for needy families in Western Prince William County. This service project will be the tenth and final Committee community service project for 2014.

Participants can drop off their donations at the next monthly Prince William County Republican Committee meeting on Monday, November 24, at 7:30pm, at Benton Middle School. Donations can also be dropped off before November 25 at the Office of Gainesville Supervisor Pete Candland (7001 Heritage Village Plaza, Suite 210, Gainesville, VA 20155) during the weekday between 9am-5pm, or at the Prince William County Republican Committee headquarters (4431 Prince William Pkwy, Woodbridge, VA 22192) on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 10am-4pm. Any County resident can participate in the project, regardless of political affiliation.

“Even in a region that has as much wealth as northern Virginia, there are still many families who are in need this holiday season,” said Chairman Bill Card. “We’re proud to support the great work of the Haymarket Regional Food Pantry, as they continue to help some of our neighbors who may be going through a rough time.”

Card continued, “This project is the conclusion of a very successful Community Service Initiative for the Prince William Republican Committee. This Initiative has provided us a way to serve the community and live out our principles of service, compassion and private sector solutions.”

On February 22nd, the Prince William Republican Committee announced its new Community Service Initiative during its annual Lincoln-Reagan Dinner at the Hylton Performing Arts Center. So far, the Committee has conducted two food bank collections with Streetlight Ministries in Woodbridge (February/June), and a clothing collection with B.A.R.N. transitional housing in Bristow, led by the Bull Run Republican Women’s Club (March). The Committee has also conducted an emergency items collection for SERVE, Inc in Manassas (April), and has assisted with Supervisor Pete Candland’s ‘Walk for Prince William,’ which benefited five County food banks (May).

On June 21st, the Committee performed two community service projects for a “Day of Summer Service”, with ACTS Homeless Shelter in Dumfries and the Bull Run Wounded Warrior Retreat in Haymarket. In August, the Committee partnered with the Prince William County Education Foundation to conduct a back-to-school supply drive for two schools in Woodbridge, Fred Lynn Middle School and Elizabeth Vaughn Elementary School.
