Detective Dies of Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound

Colindres was a 9-year veteran 

 

The body of a Prince William County Police detective was found on Tuesday in a car on Joplin Road.

Police found the body of Detective Will Colindres was found inside of his car parked on Joplin Road, according to sources familiar with the investigation. Joplin Road is a two-lane stretch of rural road connecting Quantico to Independent Hill in Prince William County.

Sources tell Potomac Local the law enforcement officer died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Colindres spent nine years on the force in Prince William County.

The department posted this to their Facebook page Wednesday:

As a nine-year veteran of the department, his assignments included patrol officer, detective in the Special Victims Unit and, more recently, a detective in the Property Crimes West Unit.

Will is survived by his parents and three brothers who will forever remain a part of our police family. His memory will also forever remain with the members of our department.

Prince William police would not comment on how the officer died. Sources tell Potomac Local that an investigation is ongoing and that police officers who knew Colindres are in mourning.
