9-month-old Girl Dies in Crib

Infant missed regular doctors visits, police say

A 9-month-old girl has died after police said her parents left her in lying a crib for nearly a day.

Police and rescue crews were called to a home in the 10200 block of Aqua View Court in Nokesville about 1 p.m. on Oct. 5. The child’s parents had called 911 after they found her not breathing, according to police.

The child was pronounced dead on the scene.

The investigation revealed that the infant’s parents, identified as the accused individuals below, left the child in her crib for approximately 16 hours without checking on her welfare,” said a Prince William police spokesman.

Investigators say the child was left in her crib about 8:30 p.m. Oct. 4 and was found at 12:30 p.m. the next day. The child had also not routinely seen a doctor in the past seven months, according police.

“The parents noticed a potential breathing problem four weeks prior to this incident but did not receive medical care for the infant,” said a police spokesman.

Both of the child’s parents were arrested on Thursday.
