Police: Teacher Leaves Bite Mark on Child, 2 Arrests Made

092214-biteDALE CITY, Va. — A child at the Goddard School in Woodbridge was bitten by a teacher, police said.

It happened on Sept. 11 when a teacher bit a 13-month-old child after he reportedly bit another teacher at the school. The 13-month old was left with a bite mark on his left shoulder, according to a police report.

Investigators also say a witness immediately went to tell the manager of the facility, the owner of the school, located at 5490 Staples Mill Plaza in Dale City, only to have it fall on deaf ears. The owner failed to report the incident to child protective services which is what is required by law, police said.

“The owner further informed the reporting staff member to not report the incident to authorities,” stated Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok.

The next day, someone made an anonymous report to authorities about the incident, added Perok.

Theresa Brown, identified as the teacher, of Woodbridge, is charged with assault and battery, according to the police report. She was held on a $2,000 bond.

Nadia Maqsood Choudhry, 24, identified as the owner of the school, of Mansasas, is charged with failure to report child abuse or neglect, according to police.

Both have pending court dates.

An officer from the Virginia Department of Social Services visited the school on May 21, May 16, and April 1 after several complaints were made about the school. However, records show social services found those complaints to be invalid.

The school has been cited this year with violations for not having up to date records, including a child’s record that did not have the complete name and phone number of the child’s physician.
