Gunshots in Dale City

DALE CITY, Va. – On August 25, a 38-year-old man told police that while witnessing a fight between two men, he heard gunshots and a bullet strike the trunk of his car. According to the report, the men left the scene before police arrived and upon investigation, police discovered a shell casing on the road but no further damage or injuries. 

Here’s the latest from Prince William police;

Reckless Handling of a Firearm – On August 25th at 9:30PM, officers responded to the area of Birchdale Ave and Dale Blvd in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a shots fired call. The victim, a 38 year old man of Woodbridge, reported to police that he was sitting in his parked vehicle near the basketball courts when he observed an altercation between two groups of unknown men.

During the encounter, the victim heard gunshots followed by a bullet striking the trunk of this vehicle. No injuries were reported. Following the incident, the victim returned to his residence on Eagle Ridge Dr where he contacted police.

Both groups dispersed prior to officers arriving in the area.  A shell casing was located in the roadway on Birchdale Ave. No other property damage was reported. The victim was unable to describe any of the men. This incident is not believed to be related to the shooting investigation reported at the McDonald’s on Dale Blvd.
