Warner Stumping at Todos Supermarket in Woodbridge

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Senator Mark Warner will visit Todos Supermarket in Woodbridge on Wednesday.

The Democrat seeking a second term in the U.S. Senate will hold a discussion “focused on providing all Virginians with a fair shot at success,” according to a press release:

Here’s more:

At the stop, Senator Warner will speak about the importance of supporting minority owned businesses as well as his work to advocate on behalf of small businesses. Senator Warner is dedicated to reducing unnecessary costs for startups through his bipartisan Startup Act and successfully ensuring that small businesses have the funding they need to grow and thrive through initiatives like equity crowd-funding, a key component of the bipartisan JOBS Act.

As part of providing a fair shot for all Virginians, Senator Warner will also discuss the economic significance of passing comprehensive immigration reform as well as the importance of providing accessible and affordable education to all Virginians.

Senator Warner will focus on his efforts to reform student debt, which has now surpassed credit card debt as the largest financial obligation of U.S. households at $1.2 trillion.

Warner is expected to speak at 3 p.m.

The owner of Todos Supermarket, Carlos Castro, is an active business leader in the community who immigrated to the U.S. from war-torn El Salvador in 1980. Last year, Castro invited now Gov. Terry McAuliffe to tour his supermarket located at 13905 Jefferson Davis Highway inside Marumsco Plaza in Woodbridge.

Like any other large supermarket, the store sells fresh meats, fruits, dry and canned goods, as well as personal products. The company has two locations – one in Woodbridge and the other in Dumfries.

Just prior to last November’s General Election, Castro stood on stage with McAuliffe and President Bill Clinton during a McAuliffe campaign stop at a VFW hall in Dale City.

For Warner, this is the second stop he’s making in our area in as many days. On Tuesday night, the Senator is expected to speak at the opening of his Fredericksburg-area campaign office in Spotsylvania County.

He is facing Republican Ed Gillespie and Libertarian Robert Sarvis.
