DTQ Little League in Bangor, Maine at World Series
Dumfries, Triangle, Quantico Little League All-Star team (DTQ) is currently battling it out at the 2014 Little League World Series in Bangor, Maine. With today’s win over Canada, the DTQ All-Stars are now 2-0 in pool play.
They will be looking for wins over host Bangor (Maine) East/West on Wednesday and Asia/Pacific on Thursday. Semifinal play will begin on Friday.
“Getting to the World Series has been a team effort,” said the team’s manager Brendon Hannifin. “The kids on this team have not only a lot of skill, but incredible tenacity and determination.”
The DTQ All-Stars will look to continue playing great baseball as they chase the World Series title, Hannifin says.
The DTQ Seniors team qualified for the World Series after winning the Southeast Regional Championship with a 16 – 6 win over Georgia. The team won the honor of representing Virginia in regional play when they took home the state title, going undefeated in five games to win the tournament.
The DTQ All Stars are primarily comprised of 15 – 16 year old ball players from Hylton and Forest Park High Schools.
DTQ Little League will hold an exhibition game on Saturday, October 4th, 2014, at the opening of the inaugural field at Fuller Heights Park in Triangle. A ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. with the exhibition-game to follow at noon.
