News Virginia Shoppers Won’t Pay Sales Tax on Back-to-School Items This Weekend
It’s a sales tax-free weekend across Virginia.
Retailers will not charge you sales tax on school supplies and clothing between today and Sunday night. The idea is to help parents get their children ready to back to school while spurring spending in area stores.
The annual tax holiday allows buyers to pick up school supply items under $20 each, and clothing and shoes items under $100 each, without paying sales tax.
The tax holiday expires at midnight on Sunday. Virginia residents have enjoyed tax-free holiday shopping on back-to-school items since 2009.Send news and photos to Potomac Local
