Woodbridge Fire Causes Injuries, Kills Pets

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — A fire broke out at a home in the Belmont Bay neighborhood in Woodbridge this afternoon.

Occoquan-Woodbridge-Lorton Volunteer Firefighters responded to the report of a townhouse fire at 775 Monument Square.  Initial units arrived on scene within minutes and reported heavy smoke and flames coming from the back of the townhouse.

Crews entered through the front door and found significant fire on the first and second floor.  The fire was contained with no extension to neighboring townhomes and the bulk of the fire was knocked down within 10 minutes. Crews remained on scene for several hours.

American Red Cross was called and assisted the occupants with temporary housing. There were minor injuries and loss of family pets.  The cause of the fire is under investigation from the Fire Marshalls office.

Fire and Rescue units from OWL VFD, Dale City VFD, PWCDF&R, Fairfax and PWCPD responded to the incident. 

Belmont Bay is located behind the Virginia Railway Express station off U.S. 1 in Woodbridge.
