Chef Opening New Restaurant at Old Waters Edge

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — What once was known as Waters Edge will now be called The Landing Restaurant.

Chef Troy Clayton will try to recreate an atmosphere from the Coles Point Marina restaurant in Hauge, Va. on the Occoquan River in Woodbridge, next to the Harbor View Conference Center opening June 13.

The Landing Restaurant at Occoquan Harbor Marina has undergone nearly $1 million in new upgrades to include outdoor covered and uncovered decks that can seat up to 70 people, as well as a porch area that seats 70 more. It’s a look that mirrors Clayton’s Coles Point restaurant where guests outside can enjoy a finer casual dining experience, while there’s a more refined dining atmosphere on the inside.

Our restaurant has been a big hit with boaters on the river, which really is a community among themselves, so we think we will be able to do well in this location,” said Clayton. Steaks, seafood, and pastas will be on the menu, but so will a special potato chip nacho with crab appetizer.

Clayton says it’s one of his most popular dishes. The new restaurant will sit in the heart of coming mixed-use development that will add 750 new homes to the area in north Woodbridge. U.S. 1 is also being widened from the Occoquan River to Mary’s Way to accommodate increased traffic in the area, and a new flyover bridge is being built at the nearby intersection of U.S. 1 and Gordon Boulevard.

This will be the third restaurant for Clayton, who has spent 29 years in the restaurant business. The chef also owns Geranio Restaurant in Old Town Alexandria. Water’s Edge, a nightclub and restaurant, closed last year.
