Obituary for John R. Carl Jr.
JOHN ROBERT CARL, JR., 52, of Manassas Park, Virginia passed away Sunday, May 11, 2014 at Novant Health Prince William Medical Center.

He was born on May 9, 1962 in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania the son of the late John R. and Florence V. (Mullins) Carl. He was a member of the Souls Harbor Church of God.

Survivors include his loving wife, Bobbie S. Carl; five children, Shawna M. Carl and Devin Thornton, Shavon A. Hoeffer and husband Joe, Susan E. Carl, John R. Carl, III and Joshua R. Carl all of Manassas, Virginia; two sisters, Debbie Puckett and Mary A. Steelman both of Marshall, Virginia; two brothers, James R. Carl of Aldie, Virginia and Joel Carl of Front Royal, Virginia; six grandchildren, Saniya Thornton, Savina Thornton, Devin Thornton, Jr, Amarius Tibbs, Gavin Hoeffer, Sareyiah Louise Carl; Step-father, Lexie Mullins of Haymarket, VA; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 6:00-9:00pm Wednesday, May 14, 2014 and Thursday, May 15, 2014 from 2:30-3:30pm at Souls Harbor Church of God, 8900 Portner Ave., Manassas, VA where funeral services will be held Thursday at 3:30pm with Tony Willis officiating. Burial will be 9:30am Friday at Stonewall Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Souls Harbor Church of God c/o the Caring and Sharing Ministry, 8900 Portner Ave., Manassas, Virginia.

Compared to gas, electric lawn equipment can reduce emissions, noise pollution, health risks and maintenance costs and time. The program aims to remove about a hundred gas-powered polluting tools from yards in the greater Baltimore-Washington region.

The exchanges will take place the weekends of May 17-19, 2024, and May 31-June 2, 2024, at A Few Cool Hardware Stores network of employee-owned Ace Hardware stores in the DC and Baltimore metro areas.
